Mr. Richards is Inner Strength’s Head Instructor, he is in charge of over seeing curriculum, testing and the running of daily classes.
He has been training actively for over 19 years and has been teaching children, kids and adults the martial arts for the last 15 years. Together with his wife Dorothy, they opened Inner Strength in Beacon in 1993. Since then, they have become a fixture in the local community from supporting programs such as D.A.R.E. to raising money for charities. To him, Inner Strength is not about him, but the students and what they have accomplished.
Mr. Richards passion is Kickboxing, once he stepped into the ring he was hooked. The intensity of the training and the realism is what attracted him. He brings that passion to his teaching, where he shares what he has learned in the ring to the students.
In the time that he has trained Mr. Richards has accomplished a lot, he are some of his favorite accomplishments:
- 3rd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo
- Shodan (1st degree) in Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu (A Japanese Samurai Sword Style)
- Amateur Kickboxer, having fought in the USKBF and several other organizations
- Certified Instructor with Black Belt Schools International
- United Professionals certified Master Level Instructor
- Kickboxing Trainer: His fighters have a combined record of 14 wins and 2 losses.
- Men’s National Forms Champion in the AMAA in 1991
Mr. Richards is a firm believer in leading by example (the importance of he learned being an Airborne Pathfinder in the Army), He currently focuses his training on kickboxing and realistic self defense. He either trains privately or attends seminars to stay current on the latest techniques and training strategies, which he shares in class on a daily basis. |
